Pricing – Mediation & Anger Management

Northern Frontiers aims to provide clear information about fees before you decide to book. Our services are available Australia-wide by phone or video, and you are welcome to contact Reception if you have questions about the likely cost of your particular matter before making an appointment.

Family Dispute Resolution & Mediation Pricing

The following pricing applies equally to Parenting Mediation, Property & Financial Mediation and Grandparent Mediation.

Each participant completes their own private Intake & Assessment session before a mediation session can proceed. Unless otherwise agreed in advance, each party is responsible for their own fees.

Intake & Assessment Session

The Intake & Assessment is a private individual appointment with the mediator. It provides an opportunity to discuss the issues in dispute, the proposed mediation agenda, relevant circumstances and whether mediation is appropriate.

For parenting-related Family Dispute Resolution matters, this fee includes preparation and issue of a section 60I certificate where the legislative requirements are met and the FDRP determines that a certificate can appropriately be issued. There is no separate section 60I certificate fee in these circumstances.

A section 60I certificate does not apply to a property-only dispute.

Mediation Session

Mediation sessions are generally arranged for between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the number and complexity of the issues to be discussed.

Examples:
2-hour mediation – $440 per party
3-hour mediation – $660 per party

Parenting and property matters can be dealt with during the same mediation process where appropriate. Mediation may be conducted jointly or by shuttle mediation, where the mediator communicates separately with each participant.

Administration & Record of Agreement

Mediation sessions also incur an administration charge for the mediator's preparation, post-session work, and preparation and distribution of any Record of Agreement.

The amount of administration time required will depend on the type and complexity of the matter, the extent of materials provided to the mediator, and the work required following the session.

Where agreement is reached, Northern Frontiers can prepare a Record of Parenting Agreement and/or Record of Property Agreement recording the matters mutually agreed during mediation.

A Record of Agreement is not automatically the same as a Court order or a legally binding property settlement. The mediator/FDRP records the parties' agreement in clear, practical language rather than preparing a legal document on behalf of either party. Parties should obtain independent legal advice about formally documenting their agreement, including whether consent orders or another legally binding arrangement may be appropriate.

Property-Only Matters

Property & Financial Mediation uses the same Intake & Assessment and mediation rates shown above.

A section 60I certificate does not apply to a property-only dispute where no parenting or child-related matters are being dealt with through Family Dispute Resolution.

Where requested, Northern Frontiers can provide a letter confirming that mediation was undertaken or attempted. The letter includes the mediator's Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner accreditation details.

In some matters, clients or their legal advisers may consider the ordinary email correspondence from Northern Frontiers sufficient evidence that mediation was undertaken or attempted. We recommend confirming whether a formal letter is required before requesting one.

What if the Other Party Does Not Participate?

The initiating party is required to complete their individual Intake & Assessment session. If appropriate, Northern Frontiers will then contact and invite the other party to participate.

If, following the Intake & Assessment process, the FDRP determines that Family Dispute Resolution is not appropriate, a section 60I certificate may be issued where the applicable legislative requirements are met. Where a certificate arises from the Intake & Assessment process, there is no additional certificate fee.

If Northern Frontiers contacts and invites the other party and they refuse to participate, or do not respond after the required contact attempts have been made, a section 60I certificate may be issued to the initiating party where the applicable requirements have been met.

Anger Management Program Pricing

Our Anger Management Program is an individual four-session program available Australia-wide by phone or video, including FaceTime, Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Each session is conducted one-on-one and runs for up to 50 minutes.

Pay as You Go

Optional Letter of Completion

A Letter of Completion can be requested following completion of the four-session program. This can be useful for criminal law, family law and other matters and is personally prepared and signed by your Program Facilitator.

The Letter of Completion confirms participation in and completion of the program. It does not provide a diagnosis or risk assessment and does not guarantee any particular Court, legal or other outcome.

Prepay the Full Program & Save 5%

Clients who prepay the complete four-session Anger Management Program receive a 5% discount. Where a Letter of Completion is also prepaid, the 5% discount applies to the total cost of the program and letter.

Prepaying the four-session program saves $44. Prepaying the four-session program together with the Letter of Completion saves $51.50.
